In the name of Allah (ﷻ), the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Recent Starliner headlines reminded me of some verses and the quest for colonizing other planets/objects in the solar system. I want to share verses which set the groundwork for such endeavors to inevitably, fail.
I seek refuge in Allah (ﷻ) from the rejected devil. أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطانِ الرَّجِيْمِ
All praises and thanks are due to only Allah (ﷻ) alone. الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِين
رَبِّيَ اللَّهُ
The Earth is the abode for mankind
ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَهۡدࣰا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمۡ فِیهَا سُبُلࣰا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦۤ أَزۡوَ ٰجࣰا مِّن نَّبَاتࣲ شَتَّىٰ ٥٣
كُلُوا۟ وَٱرۡعَوۡا۟ أَنۡعَـٰمَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكَ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّأُو۟لِی ٱلنُّهَىٰ ٥٤
۞ مِنۡهَا خَلَقۡنَـٰكُمۡ وَفِیهَا نُعِیدُكُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ ٥٥
In close meaning:
(20:53) [It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants (20:54) Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence (20:55) From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.
The ayah above clearly states that it is the Earth from which we were made and where we dwell. Then all will be returned into it and then all will be raised up again.
No one has ever passed anywhere other than Earth.
The first manned spaceflight was in 1961 (over 63 years as of this writing). Many accidents and fatalities later one simple fact remains: no one has ever passed anywhere other than Earth.
Subhanallah.
The Earth is the only planet/satellite which exists with seas/oceans/organic growth
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلنُّجُومَ لِتَهۡتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِی ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِۗ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَعۡلَمُونَ ٩٧
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن نَّفۡسࣲ وَ ٰحِدَةࣲ فَمُسۡتَقَرࣱّ وَمُسۡتَوۡدَعࣱۗ قَدۡ فَصَّلۡنَا ٱلۡءَایَـٰتِ لِقَوۡمࣲ یَفۡقَهُونَ ٩٨
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦ نَبَاتَ كُلِّ شَیۡءࣲ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا مِنۡهُ خَضِرࣰا نُّخۡرِجُ مِنۡهُ حَبࣰّا مُّتَرَاكِبࣰا وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخۡلِ مِن طَلۡعِهَا قِنۡوَانࣱ دَانِیَةࣱ وَجَنَّـٰتࣲ مِّنۡ أَعۡنَابࣲ وَٱلزَّیۡتُونَ وَٱلرُّمَّانَ مُشۡتَبِهࣰا وَغَیۡرَ مُتَشَـٰبِهٍۗ ٱنظُرُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰ ثَمَرِهِۦۤ إِذَاۤ أَثۡمَرَ وَیَنۡعِهِۦۤۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰلِكُمۡ لَءَایَـٰتࣲ لِّقَوۡمࣲ یُؤۡمِنُونَ ٩٩
In close meaning:
(6:97) And it is He who placed for you the stars that you may be guided by them through the darknesses of the land and sea. We have detailed the signs for a people who know (6:98) And it is He who produced you from one soul and [gave you] a place of dwelling and of storage. We have detailed the signs for a people who understand (6:99) And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees — of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
We can see that there are no planets in our galaxy which have a real seas or oceans, no solid evidence exists that any planet/satellite has an ocean.
Likewise, it is mere theory that perhaps oceans existed a long time ago on some planets.
Furthermore, there is no evidence of organic growth of any kind on any other celestial body.
All this is tying back to al-ard in the Quran is only the Earth.
ٱلَّذِی جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ فِرَ ٰشࣰا وَٱلسَّمَاۤءَ بِنَاۤءࣰ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ مَاۤءࣰ فَأَخۡرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلثَّمَرَ ٰتِ رِزۡقࣰا لَّكُمۡۖ فَلَا تَجۡعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ أَندَادࣰا وَأَنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٢٢
وَإِن كُنتُمۡ فِی رَیۡبࣲ مِّمَّا نَزَّلۡنَا عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِنَا فَأۡتُوا۟ بِسُورَةࣲ مِّن مِّثۡلِهِۦ وَٱدۡعُوا۟ شُهَدَاۤءَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَـٰدِقِینَ ٢٣
In close meaning:
(2:22) [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him] (2:23) And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful.
The Earth is where we will be “lost” into
وَقَالُوۤا۟ أَءِذَا ضَلَلۡنَا فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَءِنَّا لَفِی خَلۡقࣲ جَدِیدِۭۚ بَلۡ هُم بِلِقَاۤءِ رَبِّهِمۡ كَـٰفِرُونَ ١٠
In close meaning:
(32:10) And they say, “When we are lost within the earth, will we indeed be [recreated] in a new creation?” Rather, they are, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, disbelievers (32:11) Say, “The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with you. Then to your Lord you will be returned.”
We will never be “lost” anywhere except within the Earth. Not upon any other planet nor in outer space.
Conclusion
Space exploration is an yet another endeavor which will only lead to mankind realizing what the Jinn did — we cannot escape Allah (ﷻ).
وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّاۤ أَن لَّن نُّعۡجِزَ ٱللَّهَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَن نُّعۡجِزَهُۥ هَرَبࣰا ١٢
In close meaning:
And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.
